41 Centre of Interest

Sunday was a glorious day day, worthy of being called an english spring day. Warm with a slight breeze. So, out with the camera and the promise of a roast dinner in a pub off we went to a local Ancient Forest (about 1000 years old) which used to be a deer park for the King (us hoi polloi could be executed merely for picking up a branch for firewood).

The visitors centre was like most, bland and uninteresting, but then I came across THIS .

There are still Deer there carefully managed and I couldn’t get close enough to shoot one (with my camera), however grand dad would have loved it (the rascal).
Still remember him teaching me stalking, but too noisy now.

I would expect Robin Hood to pop out any time now. I am always astounded at the age of things in the “Old World”. Great photo!

Our ‘New’ Forest was old in 1086 when William the conqueror named it the New Forest and made it his hunting grond, going back at least to the Bronze age.
