75 Distant

At last, I am back. My last post  is but a distant memory, so I thought that should be the title of my return to the blogosphere.

I am standing in Kent and across the Thames (the stretch of water) is Essex (my county).

How often do you go back to Essex?

    • Howard Scott says:

I live in Essex but go over to Kent for the oysters. Oh and the apples, Alright the Cider!
As an aside for my American friends.
Just out of shot is a small marker in the Thames estuary of a restricted area. During 1945 a Liberty ship called The SS Richard Montgomery sank in the estuary and has never been cleared. The amount of Ordnance 1500 tons (now deteriorating fast) on board is such that if (when) she blows may take out a large area of Essex and Kent.
I am hoping to get a shot of that marker (and the orchards) later in the year.

What’s all that smoke hanging over Essex in the distance?

    • Howard Scott says:

I am not a 100% certain but I believe it is stubble burning off the fields. I try to get out of Essex when they burn stubble ( this has recently been banned as hazardous to health by our friends the EU) due to health reasons.

Interesting back story here. Your photo really tells of the vastness of the water.
